Gentle Touch Services

We utilize activator instrument chiropractic manipulation and support that may include rehabilitative exercises, physiotherapy, nutritional counseling, braces/orthotics, home exercises, soft tissue therapy, low-level laser therapy, or outside referral if necessary. Each patient's treatment is tailored to the individual and their problem. We pay attention to the little details because it is those details that make a big difference.

Low Force Adjusting with the Activator  Instrument
The Way It Works
The Activator is a chiropractic treatment device created to administer a gentle and precise chiropractic adjustment. It is a small handheld spring-loaded instrument, which delivers a small impulse to the spine or extremity joints.  This is regarded as a low force chiropractic treatment technique.  The force is no more than 0.3 J of kinetic energy in a 3-millisecond pulse.

Benefits of Activator Adjusting
The activator instrument has an adjustable light force that is suitable for treating patients of all ages, from infants, children, pregnant women, athletes to seniors.  It has a versatility that allows for manipulating most joints in the body.  It is safe, effective, and in most cases has minimal to no pain.
The Activator Experience
There are several types of evaluation used to identify the subluxation complex: palpation, functional leg length testing, and Applied Kinesiology reflexive testing. After a misalignment is identified, the activator instrument is placed in the direction of correction and the thrust is applied. For those who fear the traditional manual manipulation, this instrument adjusting is a great alternative.

Therapeutic Ultrasound
Benefits of Therapeutic Ultrasound
The use of ultrasound as a treatment is beneficial because it speeds up the natural healing process of soft-tissue injuries.  It decreases pain by increasing blood-flow to the area.  It reduces swelling and edema, and gently massages tissues, without irritation.  It may soften scar tissue.

The Way It Works
Ultrasound is a very high-frequency grouping of sound waves, that usually cannot be heard by humans.  These are produced by a pizo-electric effect.  A wand is used to apply these sound waves to an area of injury.
Ultrasound stimulates the tissue deep beneath the skin’s surface.  Maximum energy absorption in soft-tissue is between 2-5 cm, about 1-2 inches.
The Ultrasound Experience
Gel is needed to conduct sound waves from the head of the wand into tissue.  This gel has no therapeutic value.  Initially the gel may feel cool when applied to the skin. During treatment, which may last from 5-15 minutes, a patient’s experience may vary. Some patients feel nothing, while others report a mild warmth and a feeling of relaxation.

Therapeutic Laser Treatment
Overview
Low Level Laser Therapy is a form of phototherapy, which involves the application of low power coherent light to injuries and lesions to stimulate healing.  It increases the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair.  It resolves inflammation, increases range of motion and gives pain relief.  This “cold” laser therapy is a new advancement in healing, rewriting the medical books on what is possible for chronic injuries, pain management, neurological impairment, and facilitating the healing process in disease conditions.

            Benefits
  • Rapid cell growth
  • Faster wound healing
  • Increased metabolic activity
  • Anti-inflammatory action
  • Increased vascular activity
  • Stimulated nerve function
  • Reduced scar tissue (From cuts, scratches, burns, or following surgery.)
How It Works
During treatment of the tissue an interaction between cells and photons takes place, which is known as a photochemical reaction.  Photons from the laser affect the tissue at the cellular level.  The cold laser enters the tissue, alters cell membrane permeability, and at the cellular level is absorbed by the mitochondria, which stimulates energy production within the cells.
